Our Green Ribbon Tribute With Jim's passing we have lost one of the true icons of and champions for Peoria. While we are saddened by the loss, his spirit will live on in the hundred - if not thousands - of people he has inspired over the decades. That's why we are sharing Our Green Ribbon Tribute: to commemorate this man who wanted everyone around him to succeed - especially the city he loved so much. So when you see those little green ribbons, we hope you will be reminded of all the big - and little - things Jim has done to help countless others succeed. My 1st memory of Jim was from the Annual Christmas Sing in the courthouse plaza. My Grandma & Grandpa Bach took me and my sister down there. My mom had just pierced our ears, (ice, bar of soap, large needle and button thread) and my Grandpa was sooo mad because he thought we were too young for that, my sister was in kindergarten and i was in 3rd grade. It was snowing and the trees were lit up and Jim was leading everyone in Christmas Carols. What a wonderful Christmas memory it was. I feel so blessed to have known this wonderful man. He was always so upbeat and brought a smile to everyone's face that he came in contact with. I so wish that I could have said good bye to him and to have told him how much I valued all his kind words and advice. An opportunity arose for me and I had to do what was best for myself and my girls. I know he would have understood. Seeing how he conducted business and the kind words he had for everyone... from congratulatory notes to words of encouragement...he truly knew how to make others feel good about themselves. It's no wonder he was such a sucess in life and that so many people loved him dearly. He will be missed but the memories will always be there bringing a smile to the faces of many! Rest in Peace my dear Jim...Luv Ya!
