Our Green Ribbon Tribute With Jim's passing we have lost one of the true icons of and champions for Peoria. While we are saddened by the loss, his spirit will live on in the hundred - if not thousands - of people he has inspired over the decades. That's why we are sharing Our Green Ribbon Tribute: to commemorate this man who wanted everyone around him to succeed - especially the city he loved so much. So when you see those little green ribbons, we hope you will be reminded of all the big - and little - things Jim has done to help countless others succeed. Please share your stories about Jim Maloof here.

Jim Maloof. The person my father called his brother. I know that my dad, Don Miller (who passed away January 7th) and Jim are working out any problems that God may have up there in heaven together. Memories...I was born knowing Jim Maloof. He and my dad were in the South-West Kiwanis Club together. They collected money for the Salvation Army together each year. When I was very young I was amazed at Mr. Maloof's voice. I asked him to sing at my wedding. When the date was set, I learned that Mr. Maloof had a meeting that he had to attend in Memphis for The St Jude Hospital. I was heartbroken! In the end, I think Bergner’s Department Store came through with a jet to transport Mr. Maloof so that he could make both appointments. I am one of those lucky people that can say that Mr. Maloof sang at my wedding. My husband and I had the privilege of working on his first Mayoral Campaign. Additionally, I was able to talk with Jim last week and share some stories about my dad and Jim’s relationship. His last words to me were, “Let me know if I can do anything for you.” Always thinking about others and their needs. I miss you Mr. Jim Maloof. Hope you and my dad and mom and Trudy are happy being together again. Love and prayers to the whole family!
