Our Green Ribbon Tribute With Jim's passing we have lost one of the true icons of and champions for Peoria. While we are saddened by the loss, his spirit will live on in the hundred - if not thousands - of people he has inspired over the decades. That's why we are sharing Our Green Ribbon Tribute: to commemorate this man who wanted everyone around him to succeed - especially the city he loved so much. So when you see those little green ribbons, we hope you will be reminded of all the big - and little - things Jim has done to help countless others succeed. Eddie Quintal - Peoria

Monday, January 21, 2013 02:47 PM

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim Maloof (Thanks to Shaun Rickey & James Rickey) in is his office on a relaxed Summer Friday afternoon, The first impression I had of him was, old school, charming ,savvy and extremely well-articulated. James Rickey and I were chatting with him about Peoria and the old times, he had interesting anecdotes to share & he told it with a pinch of humor and with so much of passion, his memory of events together with the individual’s names, events that probably occurred 3 to 4 decades ago was impressive. I left the meeting that Friday evening rather reluctantly knowing very well that I was sitting with a man who could have entertained me with exciting stories of Peoria and Pearls of Wisdom on what we could do to improve Peoria from an investor’s perspective. I regret I did not find time to meet him again, I guess a regret I will have to live with. RIP Jim.
